We would like to take this opportunity to offer our deepest thanks to all of you who attended the Annual International Metagenomics Conference (Metagenomics 2007) held July 11-13, 2007 at Atkinson Hall (Calit2) on the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) campus. This event was supported by CAMERA (http://cameradev.calit2.net/) and the UCSD division of the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (www.calit2.net).
More than 180 people from 12 countries participated in this conference to discuss current progress in metagenomics and related fields. The conference featured two keynotes and five plenary sessions, as well as 5 forty-minute breakout workshops, three parallel technical sessions and a dual two-hour poster sessions.
